Blind Date with a Book Results

Hi all !!

Blind Date with a Book

This turned out to be a huge success!!!

In 4 days we had over 70 books issued and taken out of our library.

70 books that,
due to outdated or slightly unappealing covers,
had sat on our shelves without moving
for over two years!!!!

We All judge a book by it's cover !
We do !!
So this was a fantastic exercise in choosing a book
from the blurb and being intrigued by the
small selection of words rather
than a visual picture.

Well done to all those that took a book on a blind date :)

National Library Cuts....

Our school was a huge supporter of the National Libray Services to Schools
and this is very much in danger of being changed drastically.

Change can be good - however these proposed changes are going to cause a massive ripple effect schools and school libraries Nationwide

A quick look at a small collection of NEW books - more to follow in the up coming weeks!!!

Diego Run ! by Deborah Ellis

Diego lives in a prison in Cochabamba, Bolivia.
His parents are locked up, but he is free to come and go: to school and to the market, working as a "taxi", doing errands for other prisoners. But the future looks grim unless he can make money, fast.
His Friend Mando has a plan.....
Through my Eyes - Emilio by Sophie Masson
"I'm sorry - I'm so sorry, Emilio," Juanita began, her voice breaking a little.
Emilio hardly hear her. His stomach was heaving, there was a roaring in his ears.
The Policeman said,
"My name is Raul Castro,
and I am an officer of the Policia Federal here
in Mexico City."
He showed his identification.
"I regret to inform you that I have bad news."

Through my eyes - Naveed by John Hefferna

The explosion jolts him awake. He sits up, gasping for air, heart thumping.
Was the blast real? Perhaps it had only happened in his head, a bad dream.
Demons of the dark, his father had called them.
Push them away. They'll only poison your thoughts.
Seek the light and they can't hurt you.

These are available now !
Check them out.

Our Library is a special place with over 9000 books, around 200 e-books and a smaller, but growing collection of 20 AudioBooks.
Students can come in during Morning tea and Lunchtimes throughout the week to, quietly, browse our collections and/or play card/board games.

Should you have any Library related questions please don't hesitate to contact me: Sara Davis - Librarian between the times 8am-3:30 Mon-Friday.

Here is to an eventful, exciting, learning filled year. !!
