Librarian NEWs

Hi Everyone...

Well where to start?
Some of you will have read in the Messenger, or online on our School Website today that the Position of Librarian is up for grabs and this is indeed true.
My last day as your Wanaka Primary School Librarian is Friday
18th December(which is also the last day of school).
I have been the Librarian here for just over 3 years and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here and wish to Thank all the staff and management for their support throughout these years.
Over this last year I have been, via correspondence, doing the first year of a two year Vet Nursing Certificate and, during the School holidays, working at The Wanaka Boarding Kennels and Cattery and they have offered the Management position which I have accepted.
I will continue my Vet Nursing Studies and will also be at VetLife every Tuesday during 2016, while working with the Cats and Dogs Full time.

Thanks for all the support shown to me from Students and staff alike.

If ya see me around in 2016 please don't hesitate to say hi!!!

I am sure that you will have an amazing new Librarian and I hope you will all continue to show them your support!!!

Thanks again
Sara Davis

Thank you Ben for nominating me for Star Librarian

Star Librarian - Sara Davis

“My school librarian, Sara Davis from Wanaka Primary School is kind,
fun and friendly.
She is always welcoming and has a nice smile. Sara lets us come into the
library any time to read,
play board games and work. The library is always tidy, bright and colourful.
“She reads us awesome stories including her own book. Yes, that's right - Sara is a children's
Her great book is called Queasy Kea. Story time during lunch is very popular
because Sara reads with great expression and asks lots of questions about the story.
“She has some fun ideas too, like ‘Blind Date with a Book' on Valentine's Day.
Sara wrapped up interesting random books and included a brief description about the
book on the wrapping.
Then students got to choose any wrapped book to take home and read. It was a cool surprise
to discover a great book called Pirates' Cove.
“My teacher said Sara often works extra hours and is an extremely confident librarian.
She is always helpful if you need to find a book. She chooses fantastic books for our library.
“Our star librarian teaches year 5 and 6 library leaders to scan books, check shelves and be
welcoming to visitors to
the library. Sara has created a school library blog where you can find students' book reports and
 interesting things about our school.
“Sara runs a ‘Secret Book Club' to help struggling and reluctant students to enjoy reading.
Sara is definitely an awesome star librarian”
